Please Vote for Historical Film!

Historical Film is high in the running for the Andrews/Bernard Award, a $100,000 grant offered by Decentralized Pictures, a nonprofit organization seeking to discover new and innovative filmmaking talent. Founded by the Coppolas, it connects emerging filmmakers to industry veterans through public voting contests.

The Andrews/Bernard Award is made possible by a donation from Steven Soderbergh, director of Erin Brokovich, Ocean's 11, and Contagion. The winning project will be eligible to receive up to $100,000, notes directly from Soderbergh himself, and other crucial industry connections.

Finalists for the Andrews/Bernard Award are determined by community vote. That's where you come in!

Please be sure to review these steps in their entirety, including the VERY IMPORTANT NOTE after Step 10.

Step 4:  Select “Register Now”. This option allows you to create account with an email, username, and password. Then select “Register."

Step 6: Next, select "Start Identity Verification" and then select "Create Wallet".

Step 7: Because of the large prize at stake, DCP is extremely careful about verifying everyone’s identity to prevent scammers and cheaters. That means you'll need to input your phone number, legal name, and address. Please make sure that the information you provide matches your driver's license.

You will also be asked for the last 4 digits of your SSN.
This is a lot of hoops to jump through, but DCP is a safe, reputable website and their privacy policy ensures that your data, which will only be used to verify your identity, is safe.

Step 8: Next, select the option to create a "Virtual Wallet" by signing into a Gmail account (or use Facebook or Twitter). This is your digital account but it does not involve real money -- only digital tokens you will earn through voting. You will not be asked for any personal financial information.

Step 9: You're now in the system! And you can vote for Historical Film.

When scoring us, please provide your honest feedback and use a 10-point grading scale for reference (60-69 is a D, 70-79 is a C, 80-89 is a B, 90-100 is an A).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Any score at or above our current average (circled in red below) helps us. Anything lower than our current average will bring our score down.

If you leave a comment, your vote will carry more weight. Please keep in mind that comments are publicly viewable and cannot be edited or deleted.

Be sure to select "Next," and "Submit," and "Review Now" to complete the process.

Finally, scroll down the Historical Film page and find another vote that is in the mid-to-high 90s. Give it a "LIKE" by selecting the thumbs-up! This counts as yet another vote in our favor.

Step 10.png

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: After you have voted for Historical Film, we encourage you to explore the platform and look at some of the other amazing projects filmmakers have submitted to be considered for the grant.

BUT...
please
DO NOT give other proposals a low score as an attempt to help us. Downvoting reflects poorly on Historical Film, the platform, and the community. Only score other projects if you have thoroughly reviewed all their materials and genuinely want to support them.

Thank you for helping us keep this a fair fight!
